Nourish Pierce County’s mission is to provide nutritious food and support services to people in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. Nourish was incorporated in 1982 and currently has six food bank locations and award-winning mobile food banks that serves fifteen additional sites. Nourish serves more than 67,000 individuals each year, with the assistance of more than 400 volunteers. Our goal is to provide each person or family with enough food to make three nutritious meals a day for three days. All Nourish food banks operate on a self-serve model, allowing clients to select the foods that best meet their family’s needs. Position Title: Grants and Corporate Giving Manager
Reports to: Director of Development
Status: Full Time – Exempt
Salary Range - : $69,305-$75,000 per year DOE
Location  100% office-based with driving to various food bank sites as needed.  This position is NOT remote.

Purpose: This person in this position plays a key role in cultivating and soliciting funds from foundation, government, and corporate sources.  The successful candidate will be a well seasoned, enthusiastic professional with a proven track record of successful fundraising.  The individual in this role, in addition to writing proposals will meet with donors, and present, from time to time, in front of groups such as service clubs and other community organization.   The position is responsible for grant, proposal and sponsorship writing, including research, preparation, gathering documents, submitting letters of inquiry, applications, and reports.  The successful candidate will have experience successfully writing grants and reports for government entities. This position is also responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting corporate gifts in coordination with and under the guidance of the Director of Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duty 1: Grant Writing:
  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to research, prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to foundation, government, and corporate sources in coordination with the Development Director.
  • Manage an annual calendar of grants, proposals, contracts, revenue and reporting deadlines.
  • Perform ongoing prospect research on foundations and corporations and government funding opportunities to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants and government contracts.
  • Work with the accounting team to gather information necessary to report to corporate, government, & foundation contributors on current grant programs.
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by donors.
  • Provide stewardship to current donors, including providing regular written updates (newsletters etc.) to all foundation/corporate donors.
  • Make appointments with foundation officers and other prospects, arrange for onsite tours for supporters (foundation officers, trustees).
  • Develop written institutional materials (including Annual Report, brochures etc.) in consultation with the Director of Development, Deputy Director, and the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested, including events and sponsorship.
  • Conduct monthly grants meeting to ensure effective communication and coordination between Development, Operations, Warehouse, and Accounting so that grant funds are utilized, tracked, recorded appropriately.

Essential Duty 2: Corporate Giving
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to draft corporate giving plans and timelines.
  • Identify, cultivate prospects through meetings and presentations. Solicit corporate prospects for gifts as appropriate.
  • Work with businesses to create and manage corporate recognition commensurate with gift commitments.
  • Manage local business sponsorship program.
Essential Duty 3: Record Keeping and Reporting
  • Maintain current, accurate records in database and paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Track data relevant to development and provide written materials necessary for donor stewardship (visitor number & diversity, program attendance, etc.).
  • Consistently update donor database with grant and corporate information, including moves management activities, which are tracked using tasks and interactions.
  • Provide monthly and weekly reports, and other updates as requested.
Essential Duty 4: Customer Service
  • Handle customer service issues with diplomacy. When issues occur, provide a response within next business day or sooner to donor/foundation/organization.
  • Talk with funders on an annual basis to gather feedback.
Essential Duty 5: Professional Development
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and community meetings related to food banks and administration, grant requirements, and maintain current required certifications.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Essential Duty 6: Driving - Nourish Pierce County has 21 service sites across the county.  Driving is required to meet with prospects and donors, to provide tours at food bank sites, and to participate in day to day activities and attend meetings at multiple locations as needed.  Many key Nourish Pierce County sites are not served by public transportation.

Competencies:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience successfully writing and obtaining grants from federal, state and local sources and successfully submitting corporate proposals, and sponsorship.
  • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, but also work well in a team environment; handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Able to monitor and meet income and related goals.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the community.
  • Experience using online donor database.
  • Demonstrated computer, AI, and written literacy required, especially use of websites, social media platforms, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams), online mail/newsletter software, Canva, etc.
  • Excellent people skills with co-workers, volunteers, community members, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad and diverse audience.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to a min of 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to sit or stand for eight hours
  • Must be able to communicate clearly using a phone
  • Must be able to provide accurate information

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full time, exempt position.. We offer a generous benefits package including employer-paid medical, dental and vision insurance; a SIMPLE IRA plan and organizational match of up to 3% of annual salary; paid vacation and sick leave and paid holidays.
