Nourish Pierce County’s mission is to provide nutritious food and support services to people in need with compassion, dignity, and respect.  Nourish was incorporated in 1982 and currently has six food bank locations and award-winning mobile food banks that serve fourteen additional sites. Nourish serves more than 52,000 individuals each year, with the assistance of more than 600 volunteers[MS1] .  Our goal is to provide each person or family with enough food to make three nutritious meals a day for three days. Position TitleAnnual Giving Coordinator

Reports to:  Director of Development

Status: Full Time – Non-Exempt

Salary: $55,000-$59,000 annual compensation

Purpose:  The Annual Giving Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Development, is responsible for planning, overseeing, and implementing efforts to grow Nourish Pierce County annual giving by meeting or exceeding revenue goals.  This includes identifying and cultivating new entry-level and mid-level individual donors, as well as providing stewardship for existing donors.

Other responsibilities include supporting the organization’s institutional fundraising program through administrative functions, researching prospects, developing proposals and reports, drafting correspondence, keeping accurate records, and tracking and meeting deadlines.

The individual in this position will work collaboratively with development team members, as well as others throughout the organization to accomplish individual, team, and organization goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Annual Giving:

  • Maintain a respectful, friendly, and cooperative environment where everyone is treated with compassion, dignity and respect
  • Plan and manage and implement all facets of annual electronic and print appeals
  • Plan, manage and implement annual fundraising and “friend-raising” events and campaigns, including, but not limited to annual auction and luncheon
  • Initiate and participate in cultivation and solicitation meetings with donor prospects identified in conjunction with the Director of Development
  • Manage an annual calendar of annual giving appeals, events and related activities
  • Seek out client stories and advocacy issues to highlight at events and in publications
  • Assist with the design, printing and distribution of development-related marketing and communication materials—including print & social media, press releases, newsletters, brochures, and on-line giving.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested, including events and sponsorships

Record Keeping and Reporting

  • Utilize donor database to track donation, appeals, and moves management
  • Ensures effective management, review and analysis of donor statistics and information
  • Assists department with data entry, gift processing, and acknowledgment letters
  • Participates in management coverage for the agency
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of donor database

Donor Stewardship and Customer Service

  • Make appointments with prospects, arrange for onsite tours for supporters
  • Handle customer/donor service issues with diplomacy.  When issues occur, provide a response to the customer within the next business-day
  • Talk with funders on an annual basis to gather feedback
  • Ensure reports to donors are complete and submitted on time

Professional Development

  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and community meetings related to food banks and fund development as directed 
  • Attend and participate in all-staff and department meetings

Performs other duties as assigned

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years non-profit fundraising or related experience with demonstrated expertise in strategic thinking and development program planning
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, but also work well as part of a team; handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments
  • Thorough understanding of all components of annual giving and events strategies
  • Familiarity and experience with donor database systems
  • Track record of successful gift solicitations and achieving revenue goals
  • Track record developing and cultivating donors and relationships with multiple community stakeholders
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective web-based activities including social marketing and e‑philanthropy
  • Excellent research, organization, and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively
  • Experience and comfort working with senior level executives and board of directors.
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate and manage new accounts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong partnership building and event planning skills
  • Demonstrated computer and written literacy required, especially use of websites, social media platforms, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), online mail/newsletter software, Canva, etc.
  • Excellent people skills with co-workers, volunteers, community members, and stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and in writing with a broad and diverse audience

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to a min of 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to sit or stand for eight hours
  • Must be able to communicate clearly using a phone
  • Must be able to provide accurate information

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, non- exempt position with a salary range of $55,000 to $59,000 depending on experience. We also offer a generous benefits package including employer-paid medical, dental and vision insurance; a SIMPLE IRA plan and organizational match of up to 3% of annual salary; paid vacation and sick leave and paid holidays.  Nourish Pierce County is an at-will employer.
